Lincoln Parks and Recreation hosted its annual ‘Put the Beds to Bed’ event Nov. 4 at the Sunken Gardens. The event included volunteers dumping compost into the beds and turning over the soil. The event’s purpose is to prepare the soil before planting in the spring. The turning over of the soil is essential in avoiding overly compact soil and exposing unwanted critters to the cold air.
