Participants at the Learn International Nebraska webinar forum Feb. 22-23 sought to bring awareness of Nebraska’s export markets and international partnerships in a discussion of their efforts engage markets around the world.

Jessica Ha, graduate student and intern for the Nebraska Department of Economic Engagement, assembled the forum after realizing she did not know the role Nebraska plays in the global economy.

The forum began with presentations by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, the UNL Department of Global Strategies and the Clayton Yeutter Institute. The second day included Nebraska companies with an international reach discussing their work in international markets.

Taylor Bolam, international business associate for the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, said the main goals of his department are supporting exporters, growing investment in the state and supporting the governor’s strategic plan for international engagement.

Jacy Thoman, associate director for The Clayton Yeutter Institute of International Trade and Finance, said the organization is looking at the priorities of the new Biden administration and waiting for his trade team to be in place before seeing what changes will be made, but for the immediate future, nothing big should be expected.
