The Nebraska football team hosted Fordham University in its home opener, Sept. 4. Because the University of Nebraska maintains a sell-out streak dating back almost 60 years, most expected another sell-out crowd to come to Memorial Stadium. However, almost 2,500 tickets remained unsold in the week leading up to the game.
With the sellout streak on the line, Lawrence Chatters, the University of Nebraska’s senior associate athletic director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, tried to find a solution that would allow for underprivileged youth from around the state to attend the game and continue the streak.
Stanford Bradley Jr., the associate director of teen development at the Malone Center in Lincoln, took a group of 200 kids to the game and said it was an unforgettable experience.
