Organizers of the Nebraska Star Party are planning the 28th annual event Aug. 1-6. The event includes activities throughout the day that lead up to stargazing in the evening.

The Nebraska Star Party is an event where participants camp and star gaze during the summer’s darkest week. The lack of light pollution and unique environment makes Merritt Reservoir near Valentine the prime area of Nebraska where stars can be seen at their brightest.
