On Tuesday, Sept. 15, hundreds of UNL students, staff and community members gathered outside of Memorial Stadium to listen to seven Husker athletes and coaches speak about race, heritage, police brutality, mental health and more. The Minority Student Athlete Collective held the rally to bring awareness of police brutality across the nation.
The Minority Student Athlete Collective was founded this summer in response to the death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and others. It was founded to influence and change the experience of minority student athletes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The group sent a letter to the athletic department listing its demands including more diversity in leadership positions.
