With COVID-19 sweeping the nation, the Nebraska School Activities Association decided to continue the boys state basketball tournament, but with no fans. The organizers only allowed close family, essential staff, and the teams into the building. Only five states in the US held high school basketball championships, garnering Nebraska attention of media across the nation. Games even appeared on ESPN’s Sports Center. And so, for first time in NSAA history, players competed in front of no fans in a nearly empty arena.
