Lincoln Southwest guard Kennadi Williams hits her free throw during a loss to Milliard South

It was an electric atmosphere on a Wednesday afternoon in Pinnacle Bank Arena. The number one-seeded Milliard South Patriots took on the eight-seeded Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks in the first round of the Class A state tournament.

The Patriots jumped out to a big lead at the beginning of the game through their full-court press and senior leadership and never looked back. Their defense forced multiple turnovers to take a 14-2 lead with 3:25 left in the first quarter.

It was then that the senior leadership of Milliard South took over to stretch the lead. Patriot Seniors Cora Olsen and Khloe Lemon put together multiple scoring runs to give their squad a 45-23 lead at halftime.

The Silver Hawks came out with momentum in the second half through the effort of Junior guard Kennadi Williams. Milliard South went on multiple scoring runs in the second half, but the Patriot lead happened to be more than enough. Milliard South was victorious in this contest over Lincoln Southwest 74-58.

Cora Olsen led all scorers in this contest with 31 points for the Patriots, with Khloe Lemon adding 17 and Senior Mya Babbitt following with 14. The Silver Hawks were led by Kennadi Williams with 21 points, followed by Brinly Christensen with 13.

Milliard South advances their record to 24-2 on the season and will take on the winner of number four-seeded Bellevue West vs number five-seeded Bellevue East in the 6:00 p.m. game on Friday. Lincoln Southwest ends the season at a record of 14-11.
